Bashraghi (Arabic:بشراغي) is a village in northwesternSyria, administratively part of theJableh District of theLatakia Governorate. According to theSyria Central Bureau of Statistics, Bashraghi had a population of 657 in the 2004 census.[1] Its inhabitants areAlawites and it is the historic home of theBashaghira (also Bechargas) tribe, a faction of the Matawira confederation which took a leading part in theAlawite Revolt against French rule in 1920.[2][3]
