Barabinsky District (Russian:Бара́бинский райо́н) is an administrative[1] and municipal[4] district (raion), one of thethirty inNovosibirsk Oblast,Russia.[2] Itsadministrative center is thetown ofBarabinsk (which is not administratively a part of the district).[6] Population: 14,169 (2010 Census);[3]17,126 (2002 Census);[7]18,279 (1989 Soviet census).[8]

Geography

The district is located in the western central part of theoblast. The area of the district is 5,400 square kilometers (2,100 sq mi). LakesChany,Sartlan andTandovo lie in the district.[9][10]

Administrative and municipal status

Within theframework of administrative divisions, Barabinsky District is one of thethirty in the oblast.[1] The town ofBarabinsk serves as itsadministrative center,[1] despite being incorporated separately as anadministrative unit with the status equal to that of the districts.[6]

As amunicipal division, the district is incorporated asBarabinsky Municipal District, with the Town of Barabinsk being incorporated within it as Barabinsk Urban Settlement.[4]
