Ballouneh (Arabic:بلونة) is a town and municipality in theKeserwan District of theKeserwan-Jbeil Governorate ofLebanon. It is located 18 kilometers north ofBeirut.[1] It has an approximate area of 3.93 square kilometers and an average elevation of 650 meters above sea level.[1] Ballouneh's inhabitants are predominantlyMaronite Catholics, although Christians from other denominations also live in the town.[2]

There are two versions regarding the origin of the word Ballouneh, either deriving from theSyriac wordballani/ballana meaning bath or pertaining to theGreek name of the godApollo.
