Baby Assassins (ベイビーわるきゅーれ,Beibi Warukyūre) is anaction comedycrime film series written and directed byYugo Sakamoto [ja].[1][2][3] The series follows two teenage femalecontract killers, Mahiro Fukugawa (Saori Izawa [ja]) and Chisato Sugimoto (Akari Takaishi) as they struggle to adjust to modern society.[4][5] The series, distributed in Japan byShibuya Productions [ja],[2][6] consists of three films and a twelve-episodetelevision drama.
The first film in the series,Baby Assassins, was released in Japan on July 30, 2021.[1] The story follows teenage girls Chisato and Mahiro, who work ascontract killers while living together as roommates inTokyo. After their handler at the organization employing them instructs them to get jobs, Mahiro and Chisato struggle with fitting into society due to their propensity to resolve their social difficulties with violence.[3][5]
Baby Assassins 2[a] was released in Japan on March 24, 2023.[7] The film continues to follow Chisato and Mahiro as they are hunted down by fellow assassins and brothers Makoto (Tatsuomi Hamada) and Yuri Kamimura (Joey Iwanaga). The film's theme song, "Jyanaindayo", was performed by idol groupAtarashii Gakko!, who also make a cameo appearance in the film.[8]
