Babacar Sané (born 19 September 2003) also known asYounq Ossoko is a Senegaleseprofessional basketball player for theIowa Wolves of theNBA G League. Internationally, he plays for theSenegal national team. Standing at 6 ft 7 in (2.01 m), he plays assmall forward.

Early life

Born in the city ofZiguinchor, Sané grew up inBignona, where he was discovered by theNBA Academy Africa after playing in the SEED Project Hoop Forum.[1]

Professional career

In May 2022, Sané played forDakar Université Club in the2022 BAL season as part of the BAL Elevate program in which one player from the NBA Academy was assigned to a roster.[2] On 5 March, he made his BAL debut in a 70–85 loss toSLAC and had 8 points and 3 rebounds in 21 minutes.[3] He averaged 4 points off the bench in 10.9 minutes per game.[1]

NBA G League Ignite (2022–2024)

On 26 October 2022, Sané signed with theNBA G League Ignite.[4][5] On 18 January, Sané scored 17 points and grabbed 18 rebounds, a franchise record for most rebounds in a game.[6] He was named to the G League's inaugural Next Up Game for the 2022–23 season.[7]

Salt Lake City Stars (2024–2025)

After going undrafted in the2024 NBA Draft, Sané signed with theUtah Jazz on 14 August 2024,[8] but was waived on 26 September.[9] On October 28, he joined theSalt Lake City Stars.[10]

Iowa Wolves (2025–present)

On February 2, 2025, Sané was traded to theIowa Wolves of theNBA G League in exchange forJaedon LeDee.[11]

National team career

Sané played for theSenegal U18 national team at the 2020FIBA U18 African Championship in Egypt, averaging 14 points per game, and winning a silver medal.[12] He also played in the2019 FIBA U19 World Cup.[13]

On 25 February 2022, he made his debut for the seniorSenegal national team in a2023 FIBA World Cup qualifier againstEgypt.[14]
