Aya Kanno (菅野 文,Kanno Aya, born 30 January 1980 inTokyo) is a Japanesemanga artist.[1] After working as an assistant to Masashi Asaki ofPsychometrer Eiji fame, she debuted as a professional manga artist inHana to Yume in 2001 with her fantasy-action seriesSoul Rescue.[1][2] She has since published manga primarily inHakusensha'sshōjo (girls') manga anthologies:Hana to Yume,The Hana to Yume,Hana to Yume Plus, andBessatsu Hana to Yume.[3] Kanno is best known for her romantic comedy seriesOtomen, which was adapted into a live-actiontelevision drama in 2009.[4] Her historical dark fantasy seriesRequiem of the Rose King, based onWilliam Shakespeare'sRichard III, was adapted into ananime byJ.C.Staff in 2022.[5]
