Ascoseira is a monotypicgenus ofseaweed in thebrown algae (class Phaeophyceae).[3][4] The single andtype species,Ascoseira mirabilis Skottsberg, is a large parenchymatous macroalgae, and isendemic to theAntarctic Ocean.[5]Ascoseira is assigned to its ownorder.[3][6] The alga grows insubtidal waters at depths of from 3 to 15 meters.[7]
