Aphra Kendal Alice Brandreth (born 18 July 1978) is a BritishConservative Party politician who has served as theMember of Parliament (MP) forChester South and Eddisbury since2024.[1]

Background

Brandreth was born inMiddlesex Hospital in London on 18 July 1978.[2] Her father is the broadcasterGyles Brandreth, who served as a Conservative MP forCity of Chester from 1992 to 1997.[3]

She went toGodolphin and Latymer School[4] in London and studied economics atUniversity College London. She worked from 2003 to 2013 as an economic adviser toDefra.[5]

Political career

She was a Conservative councillor and the deputy leader of the Conservative group onRichmond upon Thames Borough Council from2018 to 2022.[5]

She was elected to the seat ofChester South and Eddisbury in the2024 general election.[6] She made hermaiden speech on 24 July.[7]

Personal life

Brandreth is married to Ian Stroud; they have three children.[8]
