Anthony F. Corvino (born September 15, 1965) is a formerAmerican footballguard andtackle who played one season in theNational Football League (NFL) for theNew York Jets and three in theArena Football League (AFL) for theDetroit Drive,Washington Commandos, andConnecticut Coyotes. He playedcollege football atSouthern Connecticut State.

Early life and education

Corvino was born on September 15, 1965. He attendedH. Frank Carey Junior-Senior High School inFranklin Square, New York, graduating in c. 1983. He committed toSouthern Connecticut State University, attending the school for four years: from 1983 to 1986.[1] He was named All-New England as a senior and alsolettered inlacrosse.[2]

Professional career

After graduating, Corvino was signed by theNew York Jets as anundrafted free agent during the1987 NFL strike. He was areplacement player, and appeared in two games as a substitute.[3] He wore number 67, and played tackle and guard.[1] He was released at the end of the strike.

In 1988, he played for the semi-professionalBrooklyn Mariners.[4] They played theRacine Raiders in the national semi-pro championship,[a] losing 3–5.[5]

Corvino returned to the professional ranks in 1989, playing for theDetroit Drive of theArena Football League (AFL). He appeared in two games as they won theArena championship game.[6] He left the Drive in1990 for theWashington Commandos. With the Commandos, he appeared in just one game, making onesack.[6]

After spending five years out of professional football, Corvino returned in1995 with theConnecticut Coyotes in the Arena League, making the final roster.[7] He played in five total games with them, making 5.5 tackles.[6]
