Anonymous Content (AC) is an independent globalentertainment company founded in 1999 byCEOSteve Golin, Dave Morrison andGore Verbinski.[1][2][3] It is based inLos Angeles with offices inCulver City,New York City andLondon.[4]

History

Anonymous Content was founded in 1999 by CEOSteve Golin, who had leftPropaganda Films, Dave Morrison andGore Verbinski.[1][2][3] The company initially had a deal withUSA Films to produce its pictures.[5] The company begin taking on the Anonymous Content name in 2000.[6] In 2002, AC made its first foray into television withCrime & Punishment, a reality show that ran for three seasons onNBC.[7]

In May 2011, it was announced that AC's talent management division had added managers Tony Lipp, Sandra Chang and Doug Wald, who brought several major talents with them.[8]

In May 2014, it signed a three-yearfirst look production deal withParamount Television, where Paramount would produce and distribute scripted programming developed by AC.[9][10]

In February 2016, Kevin Cotter was hired as Director of Literary Affairs at the company's New York office, where he would oversee researching books, articles and other intellectual property for development and production.[11]

In 2022, Anonymous Content launched its sales and finance division, AC Independent.[12]

Representation

In 2017, Anonymous Content established a dedicated Media Rights division, co-led by longtime UTA partners and book department co-heads Howie Sanders and Kassie Evashevski. The department represents authors, journalists and other media creators.[13]

The Lab

The Lab's projects have included branded entertainment projects directed byOlivia Wilde,Mark Romanek, Pantera, Cara Stricker andPatrick Daughters forHP, Lime and Adobe.[14]

Joint ventures

As of 2023, the company currently has five international joint ventures. Among them are a partnership with Spain's Morena Films,[15] AC Chapter One in the UK with Casarotto and United Agents[16] Anonymous Federation in France,[17] AC Nordic, and AC Brazil.[15]

In December 2024,Vulture reported that Anonymous Content andAlex Gibney was developing a documentary about thekilling ofUnitedHealthCareCEOBrian Thompson and suspectLuigi Mangione.[18][19][20]

Television projects

In October 2021, AC announced it would adaptLillian Hellman's playThe Children's Hour into a television series, withBess Wohl writing the screenplay.[21] It also announced that it would adaptUrsula Le Guin's 1974 novelThe Dispossessed as a series.[22] In October 2023,CD Projekt announced that AC would be developing a live-action series within the universe ofCyberpunk 2077.[23]
