Theangular artery is anartery of theface. It is the terminal part of thefacial artery. It ascends to the medial angle of the eye'sorbit. It is accompanied by theangular vein. It ends by anastomosing with thedorsal nasal branch of theophthalmic artery. It supplies thelacrimal sac, theorbicularis oculi muscle, and the outer side of the nose.
The angular artery is the terminal part of thefacial artery.[1][2] It ascends to the medial angle of the eye'sorbit (the medial canthus).[2] It is embedded in the fibers of the angular head of thelevator labii superioris muscle.[citation needed] It is accompanied by theangular vein. On the cheek, it distributes branches which anastomose with theinfraorbital artery.[2] It ends by anastomosing with thedorsal nasal branch of theophthalmic artery.
The angular artery supplies thelacrimal sac,[2] most of the outer side of thenose,[3] part of thelower eyelid,[2] and theorbicularis oculi muscle.[citation needed]
The angular artery is important in a nasolabial skin flap forreconstructive surgery.[4] It can be put at risk during acupuncture ofskin around the inner side of theeye.[5]
