Ananta Narayan Singh Deo (5 September 1929 – 1 December 2003) was an Indian ruler and politician who served as Member of9th Lok Sabha fromAska Lok Sabha constituency,[1] 13th Leader of Opposition inOdisha Legislative Assembly fromSurada Assembly constituency,[2] Deputy Minister for Industries, Commerce, Community Development and Panchayat Raj inCabinet of Odisha[3] andRaja of Dharakote Estate.[4]

Personal life

Ananta Narayan Singh Deo was born on 5 September 1929.[5] He was educated inStewart School, Cuttack and passedSenior Cambridge fromThe Doon School and was graduated fromSt. Stephen's College, Delhi in 1951.[6] He marriedShanti Devi in April 1960.[7] His son isKishore Chandra Singh Deo[4] and daughter in law isNandini Devi.[8][9] Deo died on 1 December 2003, at the age of 74.[10]

Career

On 13 February 1980, he replacedPrahallad Mallick asLeader of the Opposition.[11] He was the runner up for2000 Odisha Legislative Assembly election and1980 Odisha Legislative Assembly election fromPatnagarh Assembly constituency.[12]
