TheAmericas Rugby Trophy is an international women'srugby union competition sanctioned byWorld Rugby, andSudamérica Rugby. It was contested by the top two South American nations,Colombia, andBrazil.
Sudamérica Rugby, with funding from World Rugby, organised the first women'sfifteens competition for the region. Brazil hosted the inaugural tournament from the 3rd to the 11th of June, 2023.[1][2] Brazil, and Colombia competed with a development team from the United States.[3] The meet was used as preparation for both South American teams for the third division ofWXV in its first season.[1][2]
Sudamérica Rugby is focused on the development of women's fifteens within the region, although Brazil and Colombia are the only two teams that are able to compete internationally, more teams from the region are expected to join soon.[1]
