Alyssa Elaine Diaz[1] (born September 7, 1985)[1] is an American actress. She is known for her roles on television, such as Celia Ortega on the CBS daytime soap operaAs the World Turns, Jasmine on theABC Family seriesThe Nine Lives of Chloe King, Gloria Cruz onLifetime'sArmy Wives, Teresa onShowtime'sRay Donovan, Dariela Marzan on theCBS seriesZoo, and Detective Angela Lopez on the ABC seriesThe Rookie.
Diaz was born in theNorthridge neighborhood ofLos Angeles,California, on September 7, 1985.[1] She is of Colombian and Mexican parentage.[2]
Diaz is an actor known for her recurring roles on several series, includingArmy Wives,Ray Donovan, and the soap operaAs The World Turns. She had her breakout film role in the remake ofRed Dawn. She has made other appearances, guest-starring in television shows includingSouthland,CSI: NY andLie to Me. She starred in the filmHow the Garcia Girls Spent Their Summer, and in such television films asBen 10: Alien Swarm[3] andThe Jensen Project.[4]
In 2011, she was cast in the starring role of Jasmine on the ABC Family seriesThe Nine Lives of Chloe King.[5] In 2012, she landed the recurring role of Gloria Cruz onArmy Wives. She was upgraded to series regular for the seventh season, which started in March 2013.[6] She has also appeared inThe Vampire Diaries.[7] In March 2016, Diaz landed the role as Dariela, a series regular, on theCBS dramaZoo for its second season.[8] She currently plays Mika Camarena, the wife ofKiki Camarena, slain DEA agent, in the Netflix seriesNarcos: Mexico. Diaz is engaged to singer/songwriter Gustavo Galindo. On December 28, 2020, Diaz announced on her Instagram that she and Galindo had become parents of a boy. Her pregnancy was written into the storyline of her character Angela Lopez onThe Rookie.[9]
