American long-distance runner
Aliphine Chepkerker Tuliamuk (born April 5, 1989) is a Kenyan-born American long-distance runner.[2] She placed first at the2020 United States Olympic Trials (marathon) in Atlanta and represented the United States at the 2021 Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan.[3][4][5] Tuliamuk has been a world class athlete since placing 9th in 21:09 at2005 IAAF World Cross Country Championships – Junior women's race.[6] Tuliamuk ran 33:43 to place 15th at2017 IAAF World Cross Country Championships.[7] Tuliamuk placed 3rd at 2019Rotterdam Marathon in 2:26:50.
In college, Tuliamuk was anAll-American atWichita State University.[8][9] Tuliamuk became a First TeamNCAA Division IAll-American in cross country and in 2013, the first woman from her village to graduate from college, with a major in Public Health.
In 2013, Tuliamuk set a course record at theSanta Fe Thunder half marathon, with a time of 1:09:16.[10]
In 2016, she won theFifth Third River Bank Run (functioning as the US 25 km championships) defeatingLindsey Scherf,Clara Santucci,Dorothy McMahan,Gladys Kipsoi, andChirine Njeim.[11][12]
She also won the 2016 US 20 km championships defeatingEmily Sisson,Brianne Nelson, Lindsey Scherf,Sarah Crouch, andTara Welling.[13]
For her third national title of the year, she won the 2016 US 5 km championships defeating Emily Sisson,Jordan Hasay,Laura Thweatt, Lindsey Scherf, andJennifer Rhines.[14]
In 2017, Tuliamuk won 2017USA Cross Country Championships title defeatingLaura Thweatt,Kellyn Taylor,Courtney Frerichs,Sarah Pagano, andElaina Balouris. Tuliamuk placed 15th at2017 IAAF World Cross Country Championships – Senior women's race ran 33:43 over 10,000 meters.
As of 2025, Tuliamuk will no longer be part of Northern Arizona Elite or be sponsored byHoka One One.[15]
