Alberto Belsué Arias (born 2 March 1968) is a Spanish retired professionalfootballer who played as aright-back.

He amassedLa Liga totals of 319 matches and seven goals over 12 seasons, representing in the competitionZaragoza,Alavés andNumancia and winning two titles with the first club.

Club career

Belsué was born inZaragoza,Aragon. After beginning with lowlyEndesa de Andorra as asweeper,[1] he joinedLa Liga clubReal Zaragoza, where he would make 345 competitive appearances,[2] starting in the side's two major conquests in the decade: the1994Copa del Rey andthe following year'sUEFA Cup Winners' Cup.[3][4]

Following stints withDeportivo Alavés andCD Numancia[5]– in both cases barely avoiding top-flight relegation – Belsué retired after an abroad spell with Greece'sIraklis FC, aged 33.[1]

International career

ASpanish international for two years, Belsué made his debut on 16 November 1994 in aUEFA Euro 1996qualifier 3–0 win againstDenmark inSeville (90 minutes played).[6] He appeared in two of the nation's four matches in the final stages in England, converting his attempt in the quarter-finalpenalty shootout loss tothe hosts.[7]
