Albert Aarons (March 23, 1932 – November 17, 2015) was an Americanjazz trumpeter.[1][2]

Biography

Aarons was born inPittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and graduated fromWayne State University inDetroit.[3] He began to gain attention as a trumpet player in 1956, and started working with jazz artistYusef Lateef andpianistBarry Harris in the latter part of that decade in Detroit. After a period playing with jazz organistWild Bill Davis, he played trumpet in theCount Basie Orchestra from 1961 to 1969.

In the 1970s, Aarons worked as asideman for singersSarah Vaughan andElla Fitzgerald, andsaxophonistGene Ammons. He was also a contributor tojazz fusion, playing onSchool Days withStanley Clarke, and appears withSnooky Young on the classic 1976 albumBobby Bland and B. B. King Together Again...Live.
