Albert Aarons (March 23, 1932 – November 17, 2015) was an Americanjazz trumpeter.[ 1] [ 2]
Aarons was born inPittsburgh, Pennsylvania , and graduated fromWayne State University inDetroit .[ 3] He began to gain attention as a trumpet player in 1956, and started working with jazz artistYusef Lateef andpianist Barry Harris in the latter part of that decade in Detroit. After a period playing with jazz organistWild Bill Davis , he played trumpet in theCount Basie Orchestra from 1961 to 1969.
In the 1970s, Aarons worked as asideman for singersSarah Vaughan andElla Fitzgerald , andsaxophonist Gene Ammons . He was also a contributor tojazz fusion , playing onSchool Days withStanley Clarke , and appears withSnooky Young on the classic 1976 albumBobby Bland and B. B. King Together Again...Live .
