According to the2011 census Aizawl district has apopulation of 400,309,[2] roughly equal to the nation ofBrunei.[3] This gives it a ranking of 557th in India (out of a total of640). The district has a population density of 113 inhabitants per square kilometre (290/sq mi). Itspopulation growth rate over the decade 2001-2011 was 24.07%.Aizawlhas asex ratio of 1009females for every 1000 males, and aliteracy rate of 98.5%.[2]
