AXN Black is achannel operated bySony Pictures Television International Networks Europe. Its programming is basically focused on action and crimetelevision series and movies. The channel was first launched in Portugal, Angola and Mozambique on May 9, 2011 and replacedAnimax.[1] A Central European version was launched on October 1, 2013 in Hungary, Poland, Romania, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Bulgaria and Moldova, where it replacedAXN Sci Fi.[2]
On October 3, 2017 the channel was replaced bySony Movie Channel in Hungary.[3] On October 1, 2021,Sony Pictures Television Networks sold its Central European TV portfolio toAntenna Group,[4] and on 24 March 2022, that channel was renamed Viasat Film.[5]
On February 17, 2020 the channel was replaced byAXN Movies in Portugal, Angola and Mozambique.[6]
On 1 September 2023, German channel Sony AXN was renamed asAXN Black.[7]
