Year406 (CDVI) was acommon year starting on Monday of theJulian calendar. At the time, it was known as theYear of the Consulship ofArcadius andProbus (or, less frequently,year 1159Ab urbe condita). The denomination 406 for this year has been used since the early medieval period, when theAnno Domini calendar era became the prevalent method in Europe for naming years.
