UFC on FX: Belfort vs. Bisping (also known asUFC on FX 7) was amixed martial arts event held by theUltimate Fighting Championship on January 19, 2013, atGinásio do Ibirapuera inSão Paulo, Brazil.[41][42]

Background

The main fight featured middleweightsMichael Bisping andVitor Belfort. The event also held the first UFC fight forDaniel Sarafian, middleweight finalist on the first season ofThe Ultimate Fighter: Brazil. Sarafian was injured before the championship fight withCezar Ferreira, who went on to win the show.[43]

Johnny Eduardo was briefly linked to a bout at this event againstIuri Alcântara, but was replaced byGeorge Roop.[44] Roop was then injured and replaced by UFC newcomer Pedro Nobre.[45]

Thiago Perpetuo was expected to faceMichael Kuiper at the event; however, Perpetuo suffered an injury and was replaced byCaio Magalhaes.[46] On December 27, it was announced that Magalhaes had also pulled out of the bout and that Kuiper would be shifted toUFC on Fox 6 on January 26, 2013 to face Buddy Roberts.[47]

Roger Hollett was expected to faceWagner Prado at the event; however, Hollett was forced out of the bout with a torn bicep and was replaced by promotional newcomerIldemar Alcântara.[48]

Background

The event was headlined by aUFC Lightweight Championship bout between defending championBenson Henderson andStrikeforce Lightweight ChampionGilbert Melendez.[51] Also featured on the card was a bout between two timeUFC Heavyweight ChampionFrank Mir andStrikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix ChampionDaniel Cormier.[52]

Clay Guida was expected to faceChad Mendes at this event. However it was revealed on March 15 that Guida had pulled out of the bout citing an injury[53] and was replaced byDarren Elkins.[54]

Dan Hardy was expected to faceMatt Brown at the event. However, Hardy was forced out of the bout due to medical issues regarding his heart and was replaced byJordan Mein.[55]

Francisco Rivera was expected to faceHugo Viana at the event. However, Rivera was forced out of the bout with an injury and replaced byT.J. Dillashaw.[56]

A scheduled bout betweenJon Tuck andNorman Parke was scrapped during the week leading up to the event, as Tuck was forced out of the bout with an injury.[57]
