This is a summary of the year2012 in theIrish music industry.

• 11–14 January – Ireland is the "Spotlight Country" at theEurosonic Festival.^[1]
• 11 January – the shortlist for theChoice Music Prize was announced.^[2]
• 8 March – theChoice Music Prize was awarded at theOlympia Theatre.
• 17 May –Guns N' Roses playedThe O2.^[3]
• 2–4 June – Forbidden Fruit 2012 took place at theRoyal Hospital Kilmainham.^[4]
• 22–23 June –Westlife playedCroke Park, in their final ever shows.^[5]
• 23–24 June – the inaugural Westport Festival of Music and Performing Arts took place atWestport House.^[6]
• 26 June –Red Hot Chili Peppers playedCroke Park, with support fromNoel Gallagher.^[7]
• 30 June
• Aslan playedTallaght Stadium.
• Oxegen, usually held atPunchestown Racecourse in July, did not take place for the first time since its inception in 2004.^[8][9]

• 23 August –Kasabian andNoel Gallagher performed an outdoor concert atMarlay Park.^[14] There was high security following theSwedish House Mafia Phoenix Park concert disaster of the previous month.^[15] Sound problems marred Noel Gallagher's performance, forcing him off the stage as he attempted to finish his first song.^[16]
• 24 August –David Guetta performed at Marlay Park.^[17]
• 25 August –Van Morrison,Tom Jones andDon Baker/Sinéad O'Connor performed an outdoor concert at Marlay Park.^[17]
• 31 August–2 September – theElectric Picnic took place at Stradbally.^[18]
• 13 September –Paddy Moloney, founding member ofThe Chieftains, was given Mexico'sOhtli Award, the country's highest cultural award.^[19][20]
• 14 September –Robbie Williams performed at Dublin's O2 in honour of his vow to perform a one-off concert for his Irish fans after technical hitches destroyed his 2006 performance at Croke Park.^[21]
