The2001New York Jets season was the franchise's 32ndseason in theNational Football League (NFL), the 42nd season overall, and the first under newhead coachHerman Edwards. The team improved upon its 9–7 record from2000 and the Jets finished 10–6 and qualified for the final Wild Card position in theAmerican Football Conference (AFC), their first playoff berth since1998. They lost in the wild-card round tothe Oakland Raiders, with the score of 38–24.
