The48thCannes Film Festival took place from 17 to 28 May 1995.[2] French actressJeanne Moreau served as jury president for the main competition. French actressCarole Bouquet hosted the opening and closing ceremonies.[2]

Serbian filmmakerEmir Kusturica won thePalme d'Or, the festival's top prize, for a second time with the comedy-drama filmUnderground.[3]

The festival opened withThe City of Lost Children byMarc Caro andJean-Pierre Jeunet,[4] and closed withThe Quick and the Dead bySam Raimi.[5]
