The1988 Nabisco Dinah Shore was a women's professionalgolf tournament, held March 31 to April 3 atMission Hills Country Club inRancho Mirage, California. This was the 17th edition of theNabisco Dinah Shore, and the sixth as amajor championship.
Amy Alcott won the second of her three Dinah Shores, two strokes ahead of runner-upColleen Walker.[3][4] With consecutive scores of 66 on Friday and Saturday, she entered the final round with a four-stroke lead.[5]
Alcott and caddy Bill Kurre started the tradition of jumping into"Poppie's Pond" uponwinning.[3][4] After her third win1991, they repeated the plunge, including tournament hostDinah Shore.[6] It was not fully embraced by others until1994, whenDonna Andrews made the leap, followed byNanci Bowen thenext year, and it became an annualtradition.[7][8]
