The1983 NSL Cup was the seventh edition of theNSL Cup, which was the main nationalassociation footballknockout cup competition inAustralia. The competition was known as thePhilips Cup under a sponsorship arrangement with Dutch companyPhilips.

APIA Leichhardt were the defending champions, having defeatedHeidelberg United to win their first title in the previous year'sfinal, but they were eliminated in the final bySydney Olympic.[1]

Sydney Olympic defeated Heidelberg United 2–0 on aggregate in thefinal to win their first NSL Cup title.[2]

TheNSL Cup was a knockout competition with 16 teams taking part all trying to reach the Final in November 1983.[3] The competition consisted of the 16 teams from theNational Soccer League.
