The1906 British Isles heatwave occurred across theBritish Isles in August and September 1906. Theheat wave had a comparable intensity to the1990 heat wave.[2] From 31 August to 3 September, the temperature in the UK exceeded 32 °C (90 °F) consecutively over much of the UK. In September,Central England andBirmingham recorded a maximum temperature of 31.5 °C (88.7 °F),[3][4] while Oxford recorded a maximum temperature of 33.1 °C (91.6 °F).[3]

2 September was the hottest day of the month, as temperatures reached 35.6 °C (96.1 °F) inBawtry; this remains the hottest September temperature of any day in the UK and the eighth-hottest day overall in the 20th century.[5]

Scotland had temperatures reaching 32.2 °C (90.0 °F) atGordon Castle,Moray, whileNorthern Ireland had temperatures reaching 27.8 °C (82.0 °F) inArmagh,County Armagh, both recorded on 1 September 1906.[1][failed verification]
