The120 mm howitzerModel 1901 – was a Germanhowitzer used by theImperial Russian andRomanian Armies during theFirst World War.[1]
The model 1901 was a short ranged field howitzer capable of bothdirect andindirect fire.[2] The model 1901 had a short steel barrel, abox trail carriage, two wooden spoked wheels with steel rims, ahorizontal sliding-block breech, it firedcased separate-loading ammunition and had a spring-loadedrecoil spade. For transport, the trail of the carriage could be connected to alimber and caisson for towing by a six-horse team.[2]
