Ḷ (minuscule:ḷ) is a letter of theLatin alphabet, derived fromL with a diacriticaldot below. It is or was used in some languages to represent various sounds.

• InAsturian, adigraph (Ḷḷ, lower case:ḷḷ) is used to represent some western dialectal phonemes corresponding to standardll (representing apalatal lateral approximant[ʎ]).^[1][2] Among this group of dialectal pronunciations, usually calledche vaqueira, can manifest as: avoiced retroflex plosive[ɖ], avoiced retroflex affricate[ɖʐ], avoiceless retroflex affricate[ʈʂ] or avoiceless alveolar affricate[t͡s].^[3] Formerly, this group of sounds were represented aslh (inFernán Coronas's proposed writing system),ts orŝ. However, thisgrapheme is used only in dialectal texts and intoponyms of westernAsturias.^[4] Because of the difficulties of writing it in digital texts, non-diacriticall.l (majuscule: L.l) is also often used.^[5]

In theInternational Alphabet of Sanskrit Transliteration,ḷ is used to representvocalic/l/.

It is used to represent aretroflex lateral approximant /ɭ/ in several modern languages of South Asia when usingISO 15919 or similar transliteration schemes.

It is used to represent avoiced palatal lateral approximant [ʎ] inIñupiaq.
