Østerbro (Danish pronunciation:[ˈøstɐˌpʁoˀ]) is one of the 10 officialdistricts ofCopenhagen Municipality, Denmark.[2] It is located just north of thecity centre, outside the old city gateØsterport which, after it was moved around1700, used to be located close to present-dayØsterport Station. From the beginning,Østerbro has been a wealthy district, and it remains one of the most affluent areas inCopenhagen.
Østerbro has an area of 11.84 km2 (4.57 sq mi) and apopulation of 68,769.[3] It is bordered byNørrebro to the west,Hellerup to the north andØresund to the east.
