TheSwamp (alternativelySwamp Land) is an area inEarthBound Beginnings, being located east ofYoungtown. The swamp consists of many rivers and ponds, with several bridges used to cross the small bodies of water. Ninten and company must traverse the swamp in order to reachEllay.

Layout

The swamp is entered by crossing a bridge upon exiting Youngtown. The path begins going north to a bridge, where it is required to go north to advance as south is blocked by bodies of water. The path then turns east towards a bridge to a section surrounded by water, with another bridge north. Crossing the bridge, the path makes a zigzag south to a house.Pippi is inside the house, and she allowsNinten's party can stay there for free to recover all HP and PP.Lloyd'sfather is in a trashcan beside the house, and will askthe player for their name.

From the house, the path begins to head south-west in a winding snake-like pattern, then south to a bridge. From there the player can go either north or south, as both paths eventually loop around to the next bridge. From there, the path will continue east with one bridge leading to a dead end island, while the final bridge is at the east end of the swamp. The path from there on is a fixed path north until it reachesEllay.

History

Ninten hears that the parents of the children in Youngtown were taken to themountains, which are beyond the town of Ellay. As such Ninten and his party must traverse through the swamp in order to reach the city of Ellay. Ninten meets up with Pippi once more, who tells Ninten not to tell her mother she came there and lets him and his friends rest in the house. Lloyd's father is found in the trash can outside, who asks the player's name. Afterwards the party traverse though the swamp until they reach the town of Ellay.
