Starman
- This article details the regular Starman and the Starman race as a whole. For different variants, seeStarman (disambiguation).

Starmen are a race of ambiguously mechanical aliens that appear inEarthBound Beginnings andEarthBound. They and their many variants areGiygas's main henchmen, alongside theMooks, and as such are among the most iconic enemies of theMother series. They are completely absent inMother 3, however (along with the majority of their alien cohorts under Giygas, owing to his lack of influence inMother 3).

Trivia

- InCreatures Inc.'sChailien franchise, one of the Chailiens is No. 81Hirokacha (Japanese: ヒロカチャ) who is simply a human-like figure with a star for its head; a possible reference to the Starmen inMother andEarthBound. Hirokacha appears in the Game Boy Color gameChee Chai Alien and the Game Boy Advance spin-offNonono Puzzle Chailien.
- Starman also refers to theinvincibility powerup fromSuper Mario series. Anenemy of the same name also appears inKirby series.
- The extent to which Starmen are mechanical or biological lifeforms is fairly contentious, even among official sources.Rust promoters have no effect on Starmen of any kind, and the officialMother 2 guidebook classifies them as aliens rather than robots. However, theEarthBound Player's Guide refers to some members of the Starman family as aliens and some as robots. Most obviously, the Japanese versions of both of the first two games strongly imply that Starmen are mechanical in some way via their abnormal speech pattern of exclusively katakana, an implication that is shared by their English dialogue inEarthBound (which contains mechanical sound effects such as *click* and *whirr*).
