Shield is aPSI technique, first introduced inEarthBound. When used on a party member, it halves all damage done to them three times before breaking, although asmash hit will break it immediately. InMother 3, when used by an enemy, it also preventscombos from being performed on the shielded enemy.

Shields of the same type can be stacked up to a maximum of 8 charges.
Shoot attacks, as well as many enemy attacks, will not have their damage reduced by shields, although they will still weaken the shield and be reflected by power shields.
