PSI Rockin (Japanese:PKキアイPK Kiai, translates toPK Fighting Spirit) is Ness's signature offensivePSI attack, only appearing inEarthBound. It does a large amount of damage to all enemies, with the power varying between ranks.Ness's Nightmare andGiygas (when inside the Devil's Machine) also know this attack.

The attack's name is determined by what is chosen as the player's "favorite thing" at the beginning ofthe game.

Overview

When Ness uses PSI Rockin, psychedelic lights and sounds are displayed dealing high damage to all enemies. PSI Rockin Ω is one of the most powerful PSI attacks in the game, dealing up to 960 damage to a target, only rivaled byPK Starstorm Ω andPK Freeze Ω, however it is also the most expensive PSI in the game. Because PSI Rockin is not part of any element, noPendant can protect against it, and no enemies resist it.

PSI Rockin can be seen as the successor toPK Beam fromEarthBound Beginnings as they are both non-elemental PSI attacks, with the only exceptions being it is multi-targeting instead of single target (sans PK Beam Ω) and it is Ness's exclusive move.

• In the Wii U and New Nintendo 3DSVirtual Console releases ofEarthBound, PSI Rockin γ's animation was altered due to the rapid flashing creating a risk of causing seizures^[1].
• PSI Rockin is one of the only offensive PSI attacks that can miss. Another isPK Flash.
• Based on damage output and PP cost, PSI Rockin β is the most PP cost efficient with ~6.4 minimum damage per 1 PP, and ~19.3 maximum damage per 1 PP. By contrast, PSI Rockin Ω is the least PP cost efficient with ~3.3 minimum damage per 1 PP and ~9.8 maximum damage per 1 PP.
  • PSI Rockin α and γ are tied for the middle with 4 minimum damage per 1 PP, and 12 maximum damage per 1 PP.
