TheExit mouse is a consumable item inEarthBound. He allows theparty to escape any dungeon. Only one can be in the party's inventory at a time.

Usage

When used in a dungeon, the Exit mouse will wave at the exit and the party will be warped there. The Exit mouse can only be obtained by speaking to the mother located in certain locations.

Trivia

  • Although normally Exit mice cannot be used to exit theCave of the Past, a programming glitch inMother 1+2 allows Ness to use it and successfully escape in the final room whereGiygas resides. After doing this, he appears at the entrance to the dungeon in which the Exit mouse was obtained.
  • In theEarthBound Player's Guide, the section describing the Exit Mouse contains a screenshot displaying a text glitch. This does not occur in the final game.
  • The Exit mice are mentioned in volume 16 of theMother 3 Times, noting that they were to appear inEarthBound 64. The Exit Mouse was cut from the game sometime during its redevelopment asMother 3 for the GBA.
