Coins (Japanese:コインCoin) are equippable items inEarthBound Beginnings andEarthBound. They are used as armor in both games.

Usage

When equipped, coins will increase the wearer'sDefense. InEarthBound Beginnings their equipment slot is displayed second from the top in the equipment subscreen on the status screen. They are comparable with theRings of the same game, as they both serve the same defense-raising purpose and they both have their own equipment slots, although the rings generally increase the user's defense with a bit more in terms of value

InEarthBound they will additionally also raise the wearer'sLuck.

Trivia

• The Lucky coin and Charm coin both have identical functions despite having different names. This is actually a transition oversight regarding items purchased inSummers, as in order to make the buying and selling price higher there are two seperate items with identical names but different costs based upon where they are bought. In Japan both coins are named the Evil-repelling coin, but in English it is referred to as the Lucky coin when bought in Summers, and Charm coin when bought in Deep Darkness.
