Captain Strong is a character and boss inEarthBound. He is the head of theOnett police force who is antagonistic towardNess. After recording the first of theEight Melodies inGiant Step, Captain Strong orders Ness to report to the Onett Police Station for trespassing. There, he is battled after fighting four of his henchmenCops in a row. Despite claiming to use his "Super Ultra Mambo-Tango-Foxtrot martial arts", his most powerful attack is to grapple and use a submission hold; he can also raise his offense by losing his temper. Once defeated, Captain Strong will radio to have the road toTwoson opened, allowing the player to progress.
Unlike the Cops encountered before him, Captain Strong does not go back to normal upon defeat, but displays a generic defeat message. During battle, the "Battle Against an Unsettling Opponent" track plays in the background.
Later in the game, theOver Zealous Cop appears as a rare enemy, randomly appearing on the beach ofSummers.
