TheCandrum Underpass is a location inMother 3 first accessed inChapter 3. It is a long underground passageway connecting thehighway,Tazmily Village, andDeath Desert.

Layout

Starting from the entrance from Death Desert, the path goes past parts of machinery while going south, until reaching a crossroad. From here, going east will lead to the far west side of the highway, though this is inaccessible in Chapter 3. West is a very long straight tunnel leading to Tazmily Village. The long tunnel is mostly underground, though there is a small portion that goes through a forest.

At the very west end is the exit to either the crossroads (which is closed up on the first visit), or theSunset Cemetery. During Chapter 3, the Gooey Goo blocks the Sunset Cemetery exit and must be beaten to continue. Many different vehicles are seen parked here, such as tanks owned by thePigmask Army,Pork Beans and theMr. Saturn-shaped tea table.

History

The Candrum Underpass is first used byFassad andSalsa to get toTazmily Village in Chapter 3. The two ride the Pork Bean through the tunnels, as it is much faster than walking. At the end, they encounter the Gooey Goo which prevents them from exiting. After defeating it, they exit into Sunset Cemetery.

The underpass can again be accessed inChapter 5 from the highway, however it is not required in the chapter's plot. All exits except the one at the highway are blocked.

InChapter 7, the Candrum Underpass is used byLucas and his friends, this time to reachSaturn Valley. The team first enter from the cemetery after reading a note in a bottle to go underground. Inside, aMr. Saturn shaped coffee table is able to be ridden through the underpass. Lucas and co. ride the table through the tunnel, then on the highway and finally to Saturn Valley.
