A D-Series Golem inRata Sum.

Constructed out of stone, vegetation, and other semi-natural materials, golems are massive creatures whose strength (and completely empty minds) perfectly complement the small-stature but incredible intellect of theirasuran masters. Asura who create golems are calledgolemancers.

Almost all modern golems use technology first invented bySnaff. Snaff was a pioneer in the field ofmind/golem interface. All his greatest inventions pushed that envelope. He believed a strong mind could make a strong golem even more effective. Before him, it was all joysticks and directional pads. Now piloting is as easy as thinking.

Although golems are powerful combatants (owing to their structure and imposing size), they lack the intelligence of their diminutive masters. Though they are capable of rationalizing, their ability to do such is limited by their programming and they are not self-aware.[1] During the initial rise ofthe Great Destroyer, in 1078AE, the asura launched their G.O.L.E.M. ("Genius-Operated Living Enchanted Manifestation"[2]) project to fend off theDestroyers attackingRata Sum. It's the earliest moment known in asura history where they actually fielded golems in large numbers.
