Accessibility on MUSE

Mission Statement

Project MUSE is committed to creating products that are fully accessible to all users. To this end, we strive to ensure our content conforms to the AA level of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.1) and EN 301 549 Accessibility Standard (V3.2.1), and follows the technical specifications of the Revised Section 508 Standards (published January 2017 and corrected January 2018). MUSE also offers its publishers anAccessibility Guide for how to make their content as accessible as possible on MUSE.

Compliance

Compliance toSection 508 of the US Rehabilitation Act,Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.1, andEN 301 549 Accessibility Standard is measured by theVoluntary Product Accessibility Template (VPAT 2.4Rev). All content on MUSE operates under the specifications in the attached VPAT.

Personalized Reading Experience

Project MUSE allows users to personalize their reading experience on the platform viauser settings including high contrast mode and dark mode.
