There are four ferries operated with the support of theIcelandic Road Administration since they serve routes that are considered part of the “road system”.
MAINLAND – VESTMANNAEYAJAR ISLANDS
The ferryHerjólfur is the biggest one operating domestically in Iceland and goes from Landeyjahöfn / Þorlákshöfn, and to the Vestmannaeyjar islands.
SNÆFELLSNES to WESTFJORDS
The ferryBaldur goes between Stykkishólmur in the west of Iceland, stops in Flatey island and continues across Breiðafjörður bay and to Brjánslækur in the Westfjords.
MAINLAND – HRÍSEY ISLAND
There is a ferry calledSævar that goes fromÁrskógssandur in the north and sails to the island Hrísey that sits in the middle of Eyjafjörður fjord.
MAINLAND – GRÍMSEY ISLAND
The nothern most point of Iceland is Grímsey island. To get there you can take a ferry called Sæfari that goes from the town Dalvík.

ÍSAFJÖRÐUR – HORNSTRANDIR RESERVE
To get to the nature reserve at Hornstrandir in the Westfjords you can take boats operated by Borea Adventures and Sjóferðir that run by a schedule.
If you don´t wan´t to fly, there is another option available when travelling or moving to Iceland.
DENMARK – ICELAND
The ferry Norröna goes betweenSeyðisfjörður in the east of Iceland and Denmark.
