MIDLANDER'S
FIRST RUN
QUEENSLAND'S new Mid-
lander train left Roma
Street station yesterday
afternoon for Rockhampton.
A diesel-powered. air-
conditioned train, with seat-
ing for 240 passengers, it
will begin a new service to-
morrow from Rockhampton
to Winton.
The Transport Minister
(Mr. Duggan) will join The
Midlander in Rockhampton
for the trip to Winton.
The new train will cut
about five hours off present
travelling time.
It will leave Rockhamp-
ton at 5.25 pm Tuesday and
Friday, and arrive at Win-
ton at 4 pm Wednesday and
Saturday.
The return trip will be
made on Thursday and Sun-
day, leaving Winton at 12.15
pm and arriving at Rock-
hampton at 10.10 am on
Friday and Monday.
