End of series for the native of Neuilly-sur-Seine. The French Corentin Moutet put an end, this Monday, to a series of three defeats in a row (Rome, Lyon, Roland Garros) and took advantage of the abandonment of his opponent David Goffin to qualify for the second round of the tournament in Halle, Germany, one of the first meetings of the season on grass.
After a first set won by the Belgian (6-1), Goffin injured his ankle at the start of the second round. The former world number 7 held on but finally broke down at the end of the second set, won 7-5 by Moutet.
The Frenchman therefore qualifies for the second round where he will find the Austrian Jurij Rodionov (135th worldwide) or the German Philipp Kohlschreiber (128th worldwide).
