Launching the MPLAB® X IDE
After installing theMPLAB X IDE software, double-click on the MPLAB X IDE icon
found on the desktop.Alternatively, you can find the MPLAB X IDE application by typingMPLAB X in the search box on theWindows® taskbar or in theApplications folder on Mac.
When MPLAB X launches, aStarting modules… window appears.
Start Page
After MPLAB X IDE launches, at the top right of theStart Page, there are three tabs of useful information:
- Learn & Discover
- My MPLAB® X IDE
- What's New

Clicking on the 'LEARN & DISCOVER' tab shows additional MPLAB X IDE training information.
- Getting Started
- Tutorials
- Community
Icon links on the left of the screen also link to various additional software tools:
- MPLAB XC Compiler
- MPLAB Code Configurator (MCC)
- MPLAB Harmony
- Microchip Libraries for Applications

The 'MY MPLAB® X IDE' tab is automatically highlighted inred and is the first screen shown.

Clicking on the 'WHAT'S NEW' tab allows you to watch the latest Microchip products videos, view announcements on products, corporate news, and accessself-paced online training.
PROJECTS
You can open sample projects, create new projects, import legacy projects, or import prebuilt projects here.
Recent Projects
If you opened projects previously, these are listed under 'Recent Projects'.
Microchip Login
You can log intomyMicrochip or register as a new user.
