Independent TD for Sligo/Leitrim, Marian Harkin, has said she will not be running in next year's General Election.

She says she feels she could serve her constituents better in her role as an MEP for the North-West.

Ms Harkin said her decision is not linked to a poll released by TG4 last night, which indicated she would be fighting to retain her seat.
