Ministry Of Sound Club Saved From Destruction

After the last minute intervention of Mayor of London Boris Johnson at City Hall in December 2013, a legal deal has been agreed between Ministry of Sound and the developer Oakmayne that will enable Eileen House to be redeveloped without threatening the club’s existence.

The proposed housing development had threatened the club’s existence due to the noise levels but the new agreement means that Eileen House, the housing site due to be built in Elephant & Castle, will be subject to very high level acoustic protection.

Lohan Presencer, chief executive of Ministry of Sound Group, said: “We are pleased to have reached an agreement with Englewood Ltd that safeguards our future while allowing new development in Southwark. We are grateful to the Mayor for his efforts and look forward to welcoming our new neighbours to the area.”

Ministry Of Sound had launched a massive#savemosclub campaign, which got the support of hundreds of thousands of fans from around the world, and included many famous names in the music industry such asJudge Jules, Pete Tong, Fatboy Slim, Calvin Harris and Example.

It has taken 5 years for this agreement to be made, and finally brings to an end the the long-running dispute with the outcome we all wanted.

The above recent pictures of the Ministry Of Sound club show the destruction we had feared, but don’t worry! The club is just undergoing it’s annual (extensive) refurbishment and will reopen on 24th January 2014 with the Anjunabeats trio ofJaytech, Super8 & Tab and Boom Jinx
