The Christian Science Monitor is looking for an energetic news assistant for its Washington, D.C. bureau. This person will report to bureau chief Linda Feldmann, and assist in all aspects of producing the Monitor's high-profile “Monitor Breakfast”, at which Washington newsmakers break bread with the city's top journalists. Love of politics, news savvy, initiative, and attention to detail are essential. He or she will offer general administrative support to the bureau.
This position also includes significant opportunities for reporting and writing articles in Washington, with guidance from Ms. Feldmann and other bureau reporters.

The ideal candidate for the one-year position should have previous experience as a news intern, or have held a significant leadership position at a college newspaper. The candidate should be a clear and confident communicator, have excellent writing skills, and be able to anticipate needs at the bureau.

The next internship application deadline is July 15, 2018. The Christian Science Monitor is seeking editorial interns with solid journalism skills to write and edit across the Monitor’s various print and online platforms. Applicants will be self-starters, have keen analytical skills, a basic understanding of world events, and an ability to write and edit with clarity and precision.
Duties will include pitching, reporting, and writing stories with angles that strive to bring understanding to divisive topics, show new innovative approaches to a wide range of problems, and highlight areas of progress.
A creative and deft approach and an attention to detail are all requisites. Interns will emerge from their experience as stronger writers able to discern and analyze trends in addition to earning valuable day-to-day experience working with top-notch editors in a dynamic newsroom.
Work Schedule: Paid and academic interns will work Monday through Friday, between 35 to 40 hours a week. Position is based in Boston, Mass.
