Mizoram produces a lot of variety bamboo crafts, which are an essential part of Mizoram handicrafts. The handicraft industry of Mizoram is limited and most crafts of Mizoram are created and weaved with hands.

Mizoram is a mountainous state located in the northeast region of India and surrounded by lush green forests. This beautiful state stores in it large number of bamboo orchards, wildlife, breath-taking waterfalls, folklores and picturesque beauty of the villages. This is a place where people are carefree by nature and hospitable. Though, not a destination that is frequented often by tourist due to problems associated with good means of commutation, this serene place is the perfect location for a family holiday with lot of outdoor activities especially, the fantastic array of wildlife including birds.

Handicrafts of the entire northeastern region have their unique identity. The tribes of Mizoram have been making same pattern of handicraft from ages, which have become a part and parcel of their lives and rich heritage. The traditional craft of the Mizo tribes can be seen in their wonderful work of cane and bamboo. The use of cane and bamboo is basically done to produce both utility and decorative items. Another popular craft of the state is weaving. The state of Mizoram has some great weavers who create intricately beautiful products. These traditionally skilled artisans make bamboo products like baskets, utensils, hats, Handcrafted Furniture and flower vases as well as weaves shawls too.

Cane and bamboo handicraft items are most prominent crafts of the state. These plain yet mesmerizing product designs of cane and bamboo are truly amazing and highly durable. Baskets, utensils, hats, flower vases, furniture and other decorative items are made out of these bamboo and cane handicrafts, which has a wide market within the state and outside. Moreover, the state government emporia also store a large number of these items at affordable rates.

Basketry is a popular craft among the tribes in Mizoram. These tribal people are experts in making beautiful baskets out of the soft fibres of cane. Baskets here come in various designs, with lids and without lids and in various shapes. They are made for serving various purposes like cage, container, basket etc.

Weaving is a popular craft in Mizoram and the artisans of the state are experts in this craft form. They are proficient in changing the simple raw material in beautiful designs and patterns and produce lovely fabric. The Intricate traditional designs are woven by the Mizo women on their looms.
