Ontario Transport Minister Al Palladini still refuses to recognise Canada's war veterans by presistently refusing to designate the new Highway 416 as the "Veterans Memorial Highway." (Could the fact that this proposal, which should surely be a non-partisan issue, came from Opposition Leader Dalton McGuinty have a bearing on this decision?)

Despite excuses that "this is contrary to international practice" (we have located well over fifty "veterans highways" in the US), and that "highways don't have names in Ontario" (what about those big new "Apple Route" signs on the 401? …
