The Yap political dynasty in Tarlac began with the late JOSE 'APING' VILLA AGUSTIN YAP, SR.
He served as the mayor of Victoria, Tarlac from 1951 to 1955. After his term, Aping became the congressman of the second district of the province. He then served as a governor from 1998 – 2007 when he left his seat in the House.
Succeeding his father in 2007 is VICTOR YAP, the third youngest governor of Tarlac and the youngest of the three children of Aping. Victor also served Victoria, Tarlac as mayor for three terms from 1988 – 1998. In 2001, he was appointed as his governor-father’s executive assistant. Victor Yap is Nationalist People’s Coalition bet for gubernatorial race in Tarlac in the coming mid-term (2013) elections.
SUSAN YAP-SULIT, the second youngest child of Aping, is the incumbent congresswoman of the second district of Tarlac. She is running for reelection as NPC’s candidate.
Aping’s eldest child, JOSE ARENO YAP, JR., is the incumbent mayor of the municipality of San Jose, Tarlac. He is running for his second term this 2013 elections under NPC.-- ACE ILAGAN
